Medicine and Health sciences have witnessed unprecedented progress in recent years. It therefore behoves the health professionals to continually upgrade their skills and keep in touch with their professions. With this concept in mind, the Gulf Medical College, Ajman has set up a Conference Secretariat to plan and implement a series of Symposia, Seminars and Conferences. Under the Chairmanship of the President of the College, the secretariat acts as an apex body responsible for identifying relevant topics and organizing various National, Regional and International conferences from time to time. The Conference secretariat is responsible to identify, coordinate, communicate and to invite local and internationally eminent scientists to such conferences. The main aim of organizing such regular events is to create a platform for healthcare professionals and scientists in addressing various impending health issues facing the world in general and the Gulf countries in particular. This will also enhance contact amongst the students, faculty and practicing doctors and facilitate professional interaction in a continuing learning experience.
The Conference Secretariat has been constantly engaged in organizing CME & CPD programmes over the last three years, having successfully organized seventeen conferences till date, with five of them as International meets. All events were organized in joint collaboration with the Ministry of Health UAE and Emirates Medical Association. List of conferences conducted by the Conference Secretariat is enclosed for your kind reference.
Apart from organizing Continuing Medical Education programmes, the conference secretariat publishes the Health Journal. It is a bi-monthly health magazine, which was launched as part of our commitment to informative medical journalism. It is printed back to back in Arabic and English and is distributed throughout the UAE, Middle East and other parts of the world. The magazine is well established and is rated as one of the respected health magazines by the healthcare professionals. Each issue highlights on latest trends in health care and covers articles on a wide range of topics. The magazine has tie-up's with the World Health Organisation, Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, National Healthcare Group, Singapore, The Iranian Hospital, Dubai and reputed publications like BMJ, The Lancet and JAMA. It carries regular columns from the Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins and NHG Feature. We want to make it as the best health magazine in the region in the near future.
15,000 copies of the journal are distributed in over 42 countries with main focus in the UAE and Middle East countries. It is noteworthy to mention that it is in its fifth year of publication, making it one of the longstanding magazines in the region. The encouraging response from its readers and companies who advertise in the magazine prompted us to increase the circulation, contents as well as the style and structure of the magazine from the January 2004 issue. |
